Kennedy Space Center as a day trip from Orlando
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex sits on Space Commerce Way in Merritt Island. It is a separate trip from the Orlando parks. You drive out, spend the day and drive back, so it works best as a day without a theme park.
The visitor complex is the public part of an operating spaceport. Most of the launch area sits behind secured gates, and you see it on a guided bus tour rather than by driving around yourself. The complex is run by Delaware North for NASA. This guide is independent and has no connection to the visitor complex, its operator or NASA.

Opening hours for the rest of 2026
The visitor complex publishes a calendar, and the hours change during the year. These are the published hours from August to the new year. Last admission is 1 hour before closing, and the last bus tour leaves 2.5 hours before closing.
| Dates | Hours |
|---|---|
| Aug 10 to Nov 25 | 9 am to 5 pm |
| Nov 26 (Thanksgiving) | Closed |
| Nov 27 to Dec 19 | 9 am to 5 pm |
| Dec 20 to 24 and Dec 26 to 30 | 9 am to 7 pm |
| Dec 25 | Closed |
| Dec 31 to Jan 3, 2027 | 9 am to 6 pm |
The complex is not open every day of the year. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day are closed, so do not plan a holiday visit without checking the calendar. More on holiday dates is on the weather and best time to visit page.
The bus tour
The standard bus tour is included in your admission. It currently stops at The Gantry at LC-39 and at the Apollo/Saturn V Center. The operator suggests about 3 hours for this part of the visit, so it is the biggest block of your day.
The last bus tour leaves 2.5 hours before closing. On a 5 pm day, that is 2:30 pm. Because the complex works with an active spaceport, the bus route can change at short notice.
The KSC Explore Tour is a separate add-on product and is not part of the standard ticket. If you want it, look at what it includes and at the price when you book.

Getting to Kennedy Space Center from Orlando
You need a car or a booked transfer. The operator says there is no public transit to the complex.
Type the full name into your navigation
Enter "Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex", not just "Kennedy Space Center". The full name helps your navigation app find the right place.
The operator's route from Orlando
From Orlando, the operator describes a route over SR 528, SR 407 and SR 405 to Space Commerce Way. Your navigation app will show the best way from your hotel and will tell you the drive time for the day you go.
Parking
Parking costs $15 for a car, $5 for a motorcycle and $20 for large vehicles and RVs. Check the current rate when you go.
Guided transfers
The operator names Gray Line as an outside provider for bus transfers. Day trips with a transfer from Orlando are also listed in the tour block above. Read what is included, for example whether admission is part of the price.

Rocket launches and your visit
A launch is not part of a normal ticket. Launch dates and viewing options can change up to the last moment because of weather, technical issues, safety clearances or range operations. Regular admission does not guarantee a view of a launch, and a launch day is never certain.
If you want to see a launch, treat it as a bonus and plan the rest of the trip so that it still works without one. Check the visitor complex's own schedule close to your date and read what a launch viewing product includes before you pay.
Access is limited in other ways too. You cannot drive freely to the launch pads. You see them on the guided bus tour, from the stops the operator offers.
A sample day
One way to use a 9 am to 5 pm day. Adjust it to the hours on your date.
Leave Orlando early
Aim to arrive when the gates open and allow time for parking and for the entrance.
Take the bus tour first
Start with the included bus tour and give it about 3 hours. It is the largest block of the day.
Spend the afternoon in the complex
Use the time that is left for the exhibits and displays at the visitor complex. Keep last admission, 1 hour before closing, in mind if you arrive late.
Drive back after closing
Leave buffer time for the drive. If you also have a flight or a reservation that evening, do not cut it close.
